Overview
Kisspeptin-10 (Metastin 45-54) is the shortest biologically active fragment of the KISS1 gene product, a neuropeptide that serves as the master regulator of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis. Discovered through cancer metastasis research — where the KISS1 gene was identified as a metastasis suppressor — Kisspeptin was subsequently recognized as a fundamental regulator of reproductive function.

Mechanism of Action
Kisspeptin-10 acts as an endogenous ligand for GPR54 (KISS1R), a Gq/11 protein-coupled receptor expressed on GnRH neurons in the hypothalamus. Upon receptor binding, Kisspeptin activates the phospholipase C/IP3/DAG pathway, leading to intracellular calcium mobilization that directly stimulates GnRH neuron depolarization and GnRH release.
GnRH released into the portal circulation reaches the anterior pituitary, where it stimulates gonadotroph cells to secrete luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Kisspeptin neurons thus serve as the critical upstream regulators of the entire reproductive hormone cascade.
The KISS1R is also expressed in the pituitary itself, where Kisspeptin can directly modulate LH secretion, providing an additional level of regulatory control.

Handling & Reconstitution
- 1Allow the vial and sterile water to reach room temperature (15–25°C).
