DSIP
Neuropeptide (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)
5 mg lyophilized powder + 2 mL sterile water
Overview
DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is an endogenous nonapeptide first isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits during electrically induced sleep in the 1970s. Named for its ability to promote delta-wave (slow-wave) sleep patterns, DSIP has since been found in various brain regions, with highest concentrations in the hypothalamus and limbic system.
Despite its name suggesting a simple sleep-promoting function, DSIP exhibits a remarkably diverse pharmacological profile that extends well beyond sleep regulation. Research has revealed its involvement in stress response modulation, circadian rhythm regulation, and interactions with multiple neurotransmitter and endocrine systems.

Mechanism of Action
DSIP modulates sleep architecture through interaction with GABAergic neurotransmission, enhancing GABA-A receptor-mediated inhibitory signaling in sleep-promoting regions of the hypothalamus, particularly the ventrolateral preoptic (VLPO) area. This GABAergic enhancement promotes the transition from wakefulness to non-REM sleep and increases delta-wave (slow-wave) activity during deep sleep stages.
The peptide also interacts with serotonergic pathways in the dorsal raphe nucleus, modulating serotonin release patterns that influence the sleep-wake cycle. DSIP has been shown to affect the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, reducing cortisol secretion and stress hormone levels. Additionally, it interacts with the endogenous opioid system, modulating enkephalin and endorphin activity.

Handling & Reconstitution
- 1Allow the vial and sterile water to reach room temperature (15–25°C).
- 2Using a sterile syringe, withdraw the appropriate volume of sterile water.
- 3Inject the water slowly along the inside wall of the vial — do not spray directly onto the powder.
- 4Gently swirl the vial until the powder is fully dissolved. Do not shake vigorously.
- 5Once reconstituted, store at 2°C – 8°C. Protect from light.
- 6Use within 28 days after reconstitution.
- 7Do not freeze reconstituted solution.
