THImmune System Support

Overview

Thymalin is a complex of thymic peptides developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson at the Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology in St. Petersburg, Russia. Part of the bioregulator peptide class, Thymalin contains a mixture of small thymus-derived peptides that collectively support thymic function and T-cell development.

Thymalin has been studied extensively in Russian biogerontology research, where it has been investigated for its potential to reverse age-related thymic involution — the progressive shrinkage and functional decline of the thymus gland that occurs with aging and contributes to immunosenescence.

Mechanism of Action

Thymalin's mechanism involves the combined action of multiple thymic peptides that target different aspects of immune cell development and regulation. The peptide complex supports T-lymphocyte differentiation at multiple stages, from thymic progenitor cells through to mature, functionally competent T cells.

A key action is modulation of the CD4+/CD8+ T-cell ratio, optimizing the balance between helper and cytotoxic T-cell populations. Thymalin also stimulates thymus regeneration markers, including upregulation of thymopoietin and other thymic epithelial cell-derived factors that create the microenvironment necessary for T-cell maturation.

In aging models, Thymalin has been shown to partially reverse thymic involution by promoting thymic epithelial cell proliferation and restoring the production of naive T cells — a process that normally declines significantly after puberty.

Research Applications

  • Thymic peptide bioregulation
  • Immune reconstitution in aging models
  • T-cell proliferation and differentiation
  • Thymus gland restoration research
  • Immunosenescence and immune aging
  • CD4/CD8 ratio optimization
  • Thymic microenvironment regeneration

Handling & Reconstitution

  1. 1Allow the vial and sterile water to reach room temperature (15–25°C).
  2. 2Using a sterile syringe, withdraw the appropriate volume of sterile water.
  3. 3Inject the water slowly along the inside wall of the vial — do not spray directly onto the powder.
  4. 4Gently swirl the vial until the powder is fully dissolved. Do not shake vigorously.
  5. 5Once reconstituted, store at 2°C – 8°C. Protect from light.
  6. 6Use within 28 days after reconstitution.
  7. 7Do not freeze reconstituted solution.
